What is Numerology?
Numerology is a traditional interpretive practice that studies the symbolic meaning of numbers. It holds that the numbers connected with a person — principally their date of birth and name — can be read as patterns describing themes of personality, motivation and experience.
Several traditions exist, including Pythagorean, Chaldean and systems practised in India and China. VEDEIKA presents these as frameworks for reflection, not as scientific or predictive claims.
How Numerology Works
Most calculations follow the same principle: add digits together and reduce the total to a single number from 1 to 9. Master numbers 11, 22 and 33 are usually kept unreduced.

Life Path Number
Calculated from your full date of birth, the Life Path number is traditionally read as the broadest theme in a chart — the kind of experiences and lessons that may recur across a lifetime.

Derived from the day of birth alone, the Birth number is traditionally associated with everyday temperament and natural tendencies. Someone born on the 23rd has a Birth number of 5 (2 + 3).
Destiny Number
Also called the Expression number, it is calculated from every letter of your full name. Traditional interpretations link it with capabilities and the way a person tends to engage with the world.
Soul Urge Number
Calculated from the vowels in your name, the Soul Urge number is traditionally associated with inner motivations — what a person values and seeks privately.
Personality Number
Calculated from the consonants in your name, the Personality number describes how traditional numerology interprets outward expression — the impression a person tends to make.
Karmic Numbers
When 13, 14, 16 or 19 appear as a compound total before reduction, some traditions interpret them as karmic numbers — themes of learning rather than causes for concern.
Master Numbers
In many systems, 11, 22 and 33 are retained rather than reduced when they appear in core positions. They are interpreted as amplified expressions of 2, 4 and 6.
Lo Shu Grid
A 3×3 square from an ancient Chinese tradition in which every row, column and diagonal sums to 15. The digits of a birth date are placed into it, and the resulting pattern of repeated and missing numbers is interpreted.

Each letter is assigned a value, and the totals of the full name, its vowels and its consonants give the Destiny, Soul Urge and Personality numbers. The Pythagorean system numbers letters in sequence (A=1 … I=9, J=1); the Chaldean system uses sound-based values.

What is the Lo Shu Grid?
The Lo Shu square originates in ancient Chinese tradition. Its nine numbers are arranged so that every row, column and diagonal adds up to 15. In numerology, it is used as a map: the digits of a birth date are placed into their fixed cells, and the resulting pattern is interpreted.
How the grid works
Write out the full birth date and place each non-zero digit into its cell. Repeated digits are written again in the same cell. Some practitioners also add the Birth and Life Path numbers; the grid above uses the date digits only.

Repeated numbers
Repetition is traditionally read as emphasis. Two or three of the same digit may suggest a prominent theme; many repetitions are sometimes read as a theme to balance.
Missing numbers
Empty cells are traditionally read as themes that may benefit from conscious attention. They are areas for reflection, not deficiencies.
Planes
Each row and column forms a plane. A complete plane is traditionally read as a strength in that area.

Arrows
Arrows are lines of three filled or three empty cells across a row, column or diagonal. Filled arrows — for example 4-5-6, traditionally called the arrow of determination — are read as strengths; empty arrows are read as themes to develop. Columns are commonly named the Thought (4-3-8), Will (9-5-1) and Action (2-7-6) planes.
Traditional remedies
Practitioners sometimes suggest colours, directions, routines or reflective practices associated with missing numbers. These are shared as traditional context only.
